Trip Overview

This is the classic trek to the Everest Mountain region. This trek offers a classic, close view of Everest and other Khumbu mountains as well as cultural insight on the lives of the legendary Sherpas of the Everest region. The itinerary is designed to capture Nepal’s beauty, people & culture in the shortest period of time. The trek to the Everest region is one of the most rewarding journeys you’ll embark on! Nepal is a country of friendly people, beautiful scenery, and a large variety of cultural traditions. This blend of outdoor adventure and cultural exploration is a great way to experience the Himalayan Mountains. To give you a look into the heart of the villages of these people we offer student teachers an exceptional 11-12 days group trek featuring a wide range of spectacular scenery combined with unique cultural encounters with the kindhearted Sherpa people who inhabit these high altitude regions.

The trek takes us straight into the heart of the Khumbu with the short flight to Lukla Airfield. We soon enter Sagarmatha National Park and trek towards Namche Bazaar where we have time to visit the Sherpa museum and watch the sunset on Mt Everest and the Lhotse/Nuptse wall. We spend a night at Tengboche to enjoy the 360’ mountain panorama and visit the monastery where we may be lucky enough to witness a ceremony. From here we descend to the picturesque villages of Monju via Khumjung. The ancient gompa at Khumjung contains some grotesque masks of demons and you can be shown the fabled yeti scalp. Visiting a succession of Sherpa villages, surrounded by fluttering prayer flags and glistening snow- capped peaks, the popular myth of ‘Shangri La’ will seem all-too-real. On our return to Kathmandu, there is the option of taking an early morning ‘Everest Flight’ for a dramatic finale. Suitable for any hiker, this short trek offers an excellent introduction to the delights of trekking in the Himalayas, including those all-important views of Mount Everest.
